Fiber Optic Gyrocompass (FOG)

The fiber optic gyrocompass (FOG) NSR NGC-5010 FOG is a modern navigation instrument that uses light to determine the direction of true north. Unlike traditional gyrocompasses, this FOG is a solid-state device with no moving parts, making it highly reliable, accurate, and low-maintenance. FOGs operate on the Sagnac effect, sending two light beams in opposite directions through a coil of optical fiber and measuring the difference in their travel times due to rotation.
